Introduction to Garment Construction

COURSE AUDIENCE

For persons desirous of learning the key principles in sewing for a livelihood.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The aim of this course is to equip participants with sewing skills to help support their livelihood. During this course participants would be introduced to servicing the sewing machine, cutting and measuring fabric correctly, pressing fabric and sewing simple pieces.

By the end of this course each participant must be able to sew any two or more of the following pieces:

  • A pillowcase
  • A towel
  • A face mask
  • A skirt
  • A blouse
  • A hand-bag (tote)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course, participants should be able to: 

  • Understand the fundamentals of a sewing machine
  • Be able to use sewing tools
  • Understand the principles of sewing
  • Be able to produce samples for manufacture
  • Be able to resolve quality issues and provide technical feedback

COST

The course cost GUY $55,000 plus a $3,000 registration fee.
