ABOUT THE COURSE

This introductory course explores the law in relation to the tort of negligence. It is designed to equip participants with basic knowledge and  understanding of relevant case law. The negligence action will be viewed in its social and economic context.

  • The elements of the Law of Negligence – Duty of Care, Breach and Resultant Loss
  • Principles governing – Duty of Care, Breach, Loss/Damage/Injury – causation and remoteness principles
  • The Concept of Medical Negligence in the Law of Tort
  • Possible defences-violent and contributory negligence
