Introduction to Child Care
COURSE AUDIENCE
For persons desirous of learning the key principles involved in caring for children.
This introductory course in childcare aims to orient caregivers to the fundamental concepts of Child Development. The material is intended for use with children between the ages of 0-5 years of age.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- To provide a knowledge base of major areas of development: physical, motor, social, emotional, cognitive and language development
- To introduce participants to the main methods of studying children: observations, case studies etc
- To understand the relationship between physical growth, nutrition and health for children
- To orient participants to theories of Child Development: Piaget’s cognitive development, Vygotsky’s theory of learning
- To understand the impact of early childhood years and the significance of early childhood education
- To understand the meaning of curriculum and the various components for young children
- To understand the laws and regulations for Childcare in Guyana
- To orient participants on their roles and responsibilities as a teacher/care giver

The course cost GUY $55,000 plus a $3,000 registration fee.
