What about education excites you?

Each day I am motivated by knowing that I can make a positive impact through life-long learning. For me, I sincerely believe in inspiring others to be the best version of themselves, and working in the field of education, gives me the opportunity to do so.

What makes Nations a unique experience?

Nations constantly evolves. It is an institution that represents resilience and flexibility at every level. Nations never settles, there is always something innovative and creative at every corner, waiting to greet society. For me, this experience is uniquely worthwhile.

Was there a teacher or professor who made a profound impact on you?

Dr. Brian O’Toole – My A Level Psychology professor. The way he was able to keep a class engaged while maintaining his composure every single time, inspired me to aspire for the similar demeanor.

What do you love most about your job?

Getting to interact with people, and the opportunity to network and develop meaningful relationships.

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about Nations?

Internationally recognised qualifications.

How do you spend your free time?

Recharging – movies, dinner dates or a quiet night gaming

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Humble – For me Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself but it is thinking of yourself less.
Hungry – Intrinsically motivated, diligent, and have a strong desire to do more by going above and beyond.
Smart – By smart, I mean having emotional intelligence and interpersonal awareness: the capability to conduct myself in a group situation and deal with others in the most effective way.

What us the last book you read?

Patrick Lencioni’s The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team

What is the best piece of advice you have been given and by whom?

Be RFA – Ready for Anything. Simple yet very useful advice from my previous manager, now very good friend, Cornelly Ramdeen.

If you had to describe Nations to someone who didn’t know anything about it, what would you say?

Nations is a family of educators, who aspire to create and sustain a better Guyana. We are the home of internationally recognised qualifications for over 28 years.

What does leadership mean to you?

For me, leadership means inspiring others to accomplish a common goal. It is an academy of people who seek to encourage and enable others to become their best self. Leadership is understanding your own strengths and weaknesses as well as those of the team.

What person inspires you and why?

One of my recent inspirations:
His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali – President of the Republic of Guyana
For me, he represents a man for the people. Other than the fact that my father follows him 24/7 on social media, I find that his humility is like a warm cloak for all. He cooked duck curry for us once, and to be honest, I have never tasted a better one.
