ABOUT THE COURSE

The course is run in collaboration with the University of Bedfordshire. All classes are on weekend days. Successful students will be awarded a Master in Public Health from the University of Bedfordshire.

WHY STUDY MSc PUBLIC HEALTH?

Public Health is a major aspect of health care – especially in developing countries. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the key elements of a study into Public Health. With the immense growth of the medical industry in Guyana there will be a high demand for individuals who have completed Master level degrees in Public Health.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The course comprises of a total of 180 credits i.e. 15 credits for each of the following courses:
• Epidemiology in Public Health
• Public Health Protection
• Health Care Commissioning
• Health and Social Care Inequalities
• Ethical and Legal Issues
• Public Health Intelligence
• Public Health Research Methods
• Principles, Policies and Issues in Public Health
• Sixty credits are awarded for the final dissertation

COURSE SCHEDULE

The course is delivered using a block delivery system; you will undertake one Unit at a time for 6 weeks. At the end of 6 blocks, you will progress to the Master’s capstone experience stage where you will complete a dissertation. This option will include an element of research methodology which is embedded within the unit.

ASSESSMENTS

A range of assessments is used including: written reports, case studies, in-class tests,research essays and oral presentations.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The standard entry requirement is a degree from a recognized University in a relevant subject area. However, UoB may also accept applications on a case-by-case basis according to the applicant’s extensive practical experience.

COURSE DURATION

The course runs for a 28 to 36 month duration depending upon the pace at which you want to work.

The Course costs GUY $1,725,000 plus an Application Fee of $20,000
